Okay, thanks.

I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YAY!!!!!!!! OMg....that was a rough rough finals period. For some reason it felt a million times worse than all the other finals periods. It was the end all of all finals periods. However, I did feel much much more prepared for these exams than I have ever felt for exams as a whole. The bad news is...I didn't TAKE the exams very well. As in, I didn't DO the exams well. As in...I had no idea what the questions were asking me, I think I forgot to read thoroughly the essays, my computer froze in the middle of an exam and I had to run around looking for a technician, handwrote an essay which turned out to be pure crap, then ran out of time, and yesterday, sigh...my brains felt like they were puking themselves out through my eyeballs. Sorry. Gross. I know. Grody to the max.
BUT today I am FREEEE! I woke up early and got a hair cut (much needed), and after lunch I am going to run the 23983749274 errands I have to run. Today it is old navy, mani/pedi, eyebrows, pet store, bookstore, and banana republic. It's a grooming/returning day. yay!

When Exams End, the Blog Suffers

As is evidenced by the lack of posts lately.

Ms. S still has one to go (think good thoughts for her tomorrow!), but me, I'm done and back home in sunny Texas. Where I never have to worry about what I'm going to eat for my next meal, where my parents baby me like the spoiled brat that I am, and where it's 75 degrees during the day and 40 at night even in the middle of December.

I'll try to do better and update some more, but to be honest it's a lot harder now that I have a life again.

Coraline, the Movie

Um, this book freaked me out, even though it was written for children and I read it all of...a few months ago. But the movie looks GREAT! Out Feb. 6, who wants to go with me?

Puppy Cam 2

The Next Generation. The other cam is still live and kicking, but they're bigger now, and the website must be trying to keep their good thing going by introducing the new class. Kind of like how tv shows do it.

Another video sent from another friend. This one makes me really happy.

First SNOW?!

...

With the exception of pictures, canceled classes, or a very short vacation, I am not a fan of snow.

But I will admit that NOW it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

Two Sisters

NOT two lesbians.

I finally have my own Audrey Kawasaki print!!! (umm...in a few weeks...after it gets delivered...but STILL) It's been YEARS since I started stalking her art online, and even on ebay I couldn't afford a print, so I'm really excited and grateful that she decided to do a time-limited offer on her site today.

Sigh. I'm so happy.

Emo Montana

Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray are in Metro Station's new Seventeen Forever video! Do you think Trace asked them to do it as a favor, or if Miley insisted so that she could get some more street cred? My brother likes MS and I like Miley (except for her Youtube videos...those are a little annoying), so this video is good for families all around!

and for good measure, here's her new Fly on the Wall video.

Coincidence?

Some interesting things I noted while watching Tim Burton's James and the Giant Peach again:
  • James Henry Trotter
  • Parents killed in a freak accident
  • Lives with his aunts Sponge and Spiker (rotund and pointy, respectively)
  • Who make him do work and chores and treat him horribly
  • and who thought his father was below their level
  • He dreams of a better place (in this case, New York, which his parents had told him about)
  • And his life is changed when a mysterious stranger appears with magic (specifically, a bag of magic crocodile tongues)

Um...does this sound like the premise to another book to anyone else? One about a young orphan who finds out he has magic? With a lightening scar perhaps?

I'm not complaining or anything, as I love both stories. And granted, orphans finding out special secrets about themselves and subsequently livng exciting lives isn't an original formula in the least...but wouldn't it be a bit interesting to know if maybe this isn't where a certain author got her inspiration from?

I'm pretty tempted to change this post to "Harry Potter and the Giant Peach." Or maybe I just need to turn off my brain from analyzing everything for a night and just go to bed.

Panic! at the Desk-o

The above title has been my status message on gmail for about the last 24 hours. I'm pretty proud of it, as it's the only clever thing I have going on for me right now.

Finals, we meet again!

Mario Kart Love Song !!!

Yeah, so in case you couldn't tell, finals time = lots of me posting videos. But they're all good stuff, and I don't really hear anyone complaining, so here's another one.

Britney Spears - Circus

So the music video has leaked, and the quality ain't that good, but it's Britney, and who isn't interested what's going on with her?

Personally, the video (linked in case the player doesn't work) is more fun than the actual song. Although she could have gone bigger and made the circus aspect creepier, like with contortionists and fire eaters and other carnival-like side shows. I was at least expecting to see some sort of acrobatics.

And randomly, this makes me wonder, when will Ciara make a comeback? She was a good dancer.

Prop 8 - The Musical

My friend saw this video and said it made him think of me because a) it's a musical, b) it's funny, c) it has people I love in it (i.e. Neil Patrick Harris, Sarah Chalke, Jack Black, and Allison Janney), and d) it's "political."

And he was right! I think this is great!

Holiday Greed

After taking a few minutes to actually study today, my mind started drifting again and I found myself wondering why right after Thanksgiving, I suddenly have this NEED for all these things I've only casually thought of buying before. Is it just that adverising and marketing is especially effective this time of year? Is it just because this is when getting and giving gifts is for everyone, making it a lot more fun? Or is it really just because studying is never something people choose to do, and shopping is just so much easier thanks to these internets?

I don't know.

But things that I've been secretly hoping people (and by people, I mean an eccentric billionaire who likes to make random people happy) will buy for me / I will probably seriously consider buying for myself before the season is over:

  • a leather travel jewelry roll
  • new luggage, in a nice blue or grey or purple or maybe yellow
  • floral and bow headpieces, like those on ban.do
  • nice earrings, studs - because I don't like dangly ones - like these or these (not diamonds, although I do want a pair eventually - just one, because I'm a firm believer in getting diamonds from your parents or from your significant other)
  • any Audrey Kawasaki print, framed
  • this or THIS Comme des Garcons wallet
  • new games for my ds lite
  • and obviously, another bag to add to my unstoppable growing collection, even though I had sworn of them after my birthday this year

Are you disgusted having my gluttony spelled out and in bullet form? Because part of me is.

But part of me, not.

Gap Pop-Up Store: Holiday Edition

So remember when Gap collaborated with Collete for that awesome pop-up store on 5th Ave? They're doing it again, this time with Mulberry, Liberty, and RM by Roland Mouret (a favorite of Posh Spice, incidentally), for 3 products in commemoration of World Aids Day.

The products:

Mulberry Bayswater made in red sweatshirt material, $150
Liberty print pink tote bag, $40
RM by Roland Mouret cotton scarf (with a print by James Webster), $40

All are limited editions, with only one delivery of the items to the store. Half the sales will be donated to their cause.

I want all of it. It makes it better that it's for a good cause, right?

Another Video - Posh Spice for Marks & Spencer

I've seen this ad posted twice on miscellaneous sites now, and both times I had to click it and watch it, and BOTH TIMES I chuckled. Yeah, actual chuckling.

Obama Spoof - I Can Do Whatever I Like

First of all, this TI song is getting out of control with all the remakes. Is this the song we're all going to remember when we think about this election year and new presidency?

Second of all, it's pretty dang funny, y'all.

And if you haven't seen them yet, go here for more Obama videos by this guy. And for more info about Iman Crosson, aka "Alphacat," go here.

Hermes brings you, Playtime With Your Scarf~!

One of the many "classics" every woman by the age of 40 should own in their closets (I think the media told me this), is a beautiful, luxuriously, silky smooth and butter Hermes Scarf. It definitely has the bit of older woman touch, but lately they have created some youthful pieces, and like I said, it's a classic. This shiznatch ain't to old for nobodies.

To make a long story short, as it is finals time and 3:45 am...you can download Hermes' instructional booklet on the many ways to tie your Hermes scarf. I can't really give it to you or anything cuz...well I simply don't have the time (not that I do not appreciate you readers but Creditors Rights is calling my name!) I will leave you with instructions sans pictures.

Go to the Hermes site and click on the almost bottom almost right almost corner that says, "Playtime with your scarf"--You will be provided with an Adobe file of the booklet. Happy scarfing!

Did you know about this?

Subscription Gift Ideas

So... I've been reading other blogs and it looks like some people are opting to get their loved ones yearly subscriptions over one time gifts. I've heard of wine clubs, beer clubs, and hey, even cheese clubs (oh how I wish I was a member!), but now there are "pretty things" clubs and EVEN....drum roll please...a J.Crew club. You can pay some obscene amount of money and join either the jewelry, cashmere, shoes or ties membership. Each month a J.Crew editor picked article will arrive at your door.
I would totally join this if 1) it wasn't ridiculously expensive and 2) it wasn't ridiculously expensive. Although I have been LOVING the J.Crew merch lately, I'm not willing to gamble $800 of money I don't have. No offense Jenna, I love your closet.

Here is the info, courtesy of J.Crew Aholics

The Jewelry of the month club costs $850.00 and you will receive a different piece of jewelry for a 12 month period. Each piece is hand picked by our designers. This is a great gift for anyone or even for yourself. The jewelry will consist of a variety of bracelets and necklaces.

The Cashmere of the month club is priced at $1,875.00. You will receive a piece of cashmere each month for 12 months. Each item is made with 100% cashmere and all of the colors are exclusive to J.Crew. Our designers hand picked each cashmere piece for each month.

Our amazing Shoe of the month is priced at $1,800.00 and is, so far, our most popular of the month club. Again, this consists of a pair of shoes each month for a 12 month period. You may choose if you would like heels, flats or a mixture. Our designers also pick out the shoes each month.

The Tie of the month is priced at $550.00 and again, consists of a tie that is hand picked by our designers each month for 12 months.

Please note that the items that are received are not eligible for credit back to the credit card. We will exchange items (cashmere and shoe of the month only) for sizes only. We will not exchange for a different item or style of item due to these items being hand selected from the designers.

P.S. I don't think J. Crew really understands the average Joanna like myself-- we are in a recession. It has be officially declared. HELLO

Sigh, another one T and I cannot attend...but you all should go. Take pictures. Send us....please?

H&M Home Collection Series

This just in from Design*Sponge, H&M will be introducing its Home Collection via the internet only! I can't write much about it as I am in the middle of trying to focus on Creditors Rights, but you can read all about it on DS's site! Once I find more time, I am definitely picking up some things--how cute are those button pillows!
