Video Influx = Exam Time
But even more so, this year, the video influx means the END OF LAW SCHOOL. Can we celebrate? By doing the robot?

Mister Rogers and the BBoy
Yeah, you read that right. I loved this show, but I never saw this bit before.
I LOVE THAT FRED ROGERS ATTEMPTS TO DO A WAVE. What a great guy. Also: that kid (now adult) listens to some hot music.

Human Space Invaders
I love Louis Armstrong as much as the next person. But, I love nerdy people even more. Enter: Space Invaders, human-style.

I've Decided
...that I really want to get married in a tacky (but tasteful) Vegas chapel. Where, hopefully, Elvis will preside over the ceremony, and there is a clangy organ playing in the background. We'd wear vintage style clothes, I'd have a mismatched bouquet, and obviously a great hairpiece with some netting as my veil, and our pictures will look like a wedding from the 70s.
Afterwards, maybe we can go ride the roller coaster at New York, New York, go play at the arcade at Circus, Circus, see a show
(fancy or cheap), and then gorge ourselves at the Buffet at Paris or Bellagio or Wynn.
So, Albert, this is your warning.

Exciting Day
- Stayed (for free) in a(n upgraded) suite at the Hyatt Grand Central last night with one of my best friends from Texas, TK
- Stocked up on free VOSS water in the club upstairs (I'm fancy!)
- Stocked up on free mini ginger ales as well
- Stuffed ourselves with free hor d'oeuvres, including prosciutto and brie with crackers, caprese salad, and grilled squash
- Stocked up on free rolls of toilet paper, thanks to TK (I'm ghetto!)
- Slept in while she had to go to work
- Shopped in Soho.
- Saw JAY FREAKING Z at Tom Colocchio's restaurant in Chelsea, Craftsteak, where HOVA himself waved and said HI to our table. I guess he just recognized the gangstas in us.
Amazing, right? Are you jealous? No, but seriously, that man out-swaggered everyone in a 10 block radius - he is just that cool.
In other news, I bought two dresses today, too.
Exhibit A:
Exhibit B:
They look hot, trust me.

Delfina Delettrez Skeleton Hand Bracelet
Dudes and dudettes, I saw this, and I literally said out loud: WHAT is the WHAT?
It's a special order, but trust me when I tell you that you don't want to know how much it costs. Let's just say you could buy a cheap car with the monies. Or pay for a semester or two of school.
But let's be honest for a second: it's kind of awesome.

How Lovely to Be a Woman
Ann Margaret in Bye Bye Birdie
So there is a WalMart commercial on TV where someone named Marisa Cristina Ferdenzi sings a few lines of this song and it's AWESOME. Check out the video, which I can somehow only find on her page on MySpace.
Her other songs are pretty good, too. This girl needs to release an album, like, YESTERDAY.

Hello World
I just ordered the new 16GB itouch!!
I'm so excited! I lost my ipod nano a couple of months back and I was very very sad. I don't even know how it happened, I walked less than a block and it was gone. Sigh.
Hopefully I will not lose this one as well! I was about to spring for the 32 GB but then thought, why would I ever need that?
And the best part? It was completely FREE! I have been saving points from our research engine for YEARS. Every time you complete a quiz or a training, you get some points and I have ben diligently collecting since 2006. It's all paying off. Early graduation present to myself!

Super Religious, or Super Deadly?
Elizabeth and James Multi-Dagger & Onyx Chain Necklace, $595 (?! WTH. I love the Olsens, but this is a bit ridiculous.)
Totally random, but without looking at the piece's name, I thought this was a necklace of 3,000+ crosses. I kind of like the double symbolism/entendre. I am too lazy to pick which word of the two is more appropriate, so you guys figure it out. An ugly Monday version of Choose Your Own Adventure!
Is It Wrong
...that I have the black Hillier Hobo with gold hardware, and I've been using it almost exclusively for the last 4 months, but now I want the Fall 09 grey version, too?!
When will this bag obsessing stop?! It's like a dormant disease that disappears for awhile, but then flares up suddenly when something agitates it! Kind of like herpes, I think.

Hello, Sunshine! Spring treat
So this weekend, while working really hard at procrastinating, I decided to make some Lemon Bars! I've never made them before and I've probably only eaten them like...twice in my life. But after seeing some pictures on Smitten Kitchen I decided to try it out.
Obviously, Smitten Kitchen's pictures are infinitely better than mine...it didn't help that I baked these at midnight, when I do most things. =D
The verdict? My coworker says "They were great! and I should know, I'm Italian."
For the recipe, please visit Smitten Kitchen. I used the recipe for thin lemon layer, although the layer actually wasn't thin at all. I also sprinkled crumbs from the breading on top instead of sugar.

Poof! Answer to Your Public Bathroom Woes.
I just ran across this on Daily Candy and I had to post! I know you've all come across this situation where you're out at a friend's house, at a restaurant with some friends, at a hip club/lounge, and the urge gets you. Overwhelms you in fact and you are running for the nearest BR. But wait! You're in public and it's quite unladylike to leave a trail. Yes, there's the old light the match tactic, but let's be real. If I walked into a BR that smelled like a blown out candle, I know stuff went down two seconds before I got there.
In comes Poof, a solution in eye dropper bottle. Fits in your pocket, in your purse, and in your makeup bag. Just squeeze a couple of drops into the the toilet before you do your thing and it creates a thin sealant that traps in all odors, leaving behind the pleasant smell of Japanese mint (I have no idea what that smells like). And you can tell your boyfriend he was right, your S#*t does smell like roses (er, mints).

News from the Chalkboard
Did I tell you how much I love my chalkboard? It's one of the best things I've done for the Boyfriend's apt, to date. I write little notes for him, he writes little notes for me, it's just another platform for us to be disgustingly lovey dovey. OR....
{this was on the board last week!} Just a nice, friendly reminder. Although I do have to say, the Boyfriend is one of the most cleanest person I have ever met. He's cleaner than most girls! (Organization is another story...) but whenever I go over, I feel the cat hair that seems to be endless!
Here is another one, from the lovey dovey side.
Guess who wrote that one? I'll give you a hint, taken from the wise words of Shaggy. "It wasn't me!"

My New Dunks
This makes a total of 3 pairs of sneakers. New Balances to run in, purple and grey Dunk Lows, and now these Liberty print Dunk Hi's. And when the Air Jordan 1 Retro Icy Pack comes out in May, I'll probably get a pair of those, too. It'll be either pink or yellow.
I don't know when it happened, but I'm slowly becoming an amateur sneakerhead. It may have something to do with my exponentially growing love of buying shoes. (Also recently acquired: THE Emma Cook for Topshop boots in grey! We'll talk about those later.)
Or...it's finally happening.
I'm becoming a boy. A real boy! ...who likes pink and Hello Kitty and ruffles and ribbons? They have those kinds of boys, too, you know.
Graduation Ensemble!
Hello All,
Just a quick post to show you my....(drumroll please)
graduation dress! I did some insane searching and although there are a lot of beautiful dresses out there, none were quite fun and appropriate for a summer graduation. I basically didn't want to look like I was going to a wedding or to prom. So!
Tada!
Doesn't it make you think of summer soirees and yummy mimosas? Sigh...I love.

Happy Weekend
DIY Chalkboard
Alas, the long awaited project is completed! I've been wanting to get this Chalkboard done since February, but finding the right frame for it proved to be a lot harder than I thought. Ideally, I would have gotten a bigger and thicker frame, but during a visit to the Brooklyn Flea with T, I found this vintage one for super cheap! $15.
(I have to apologize in advance, the lighting in my house is very bad for pics and everything comes up yellowish. I'm hoping you just think it's antiquey. lol)
Here are the supplies:
Plywood (I got it cut and measured at Home Depot for $3.50), primer ($6), chalkboard paint ($13.50), vintage frame ($15), and paintbrush/roller ($3)
Here is a close up of the moldings of the frame. Isn't it a beauty? Too bad it was chipping a little, but it adds to the charm.
Next, I primed the wood. I obviously have enough primer and chalkboard paint for 15 more boards. (this is a bad pic, sorry)
Then on goes the chalkboard paint! (2 coats)
I then mounted the plywood onto the frame using wood glue around the edges. I did about 2 coats (let the first dry). Then I placed 4 heavy books on top.
And ta da! My very own Chalkboard! I honestly had no idea what to write on it and felt pressure to write something really cute and interesting. But this was the best I could come up with. =D
I have to say, nothing beats real slate. The chalk definitely doesn't go on as smoothly as it does with slate. But, I really love that the board is a dark black instead of a green, and for a DIY, I think it's a great and inexpensive way to charm up your home.
Drop me a line if you have any DIY chalkboards of your own!

CHEAP Quick and Simple meals:
If you ever want to cook a meal that seems elaborate but is really simple to make, roasted chicken is the way to go. Seriously. It's probably easier to make than a simple pasta dish because it's one, two, three, and voila! A totally home cooked meal that makes any day feel like Thanksgiving (err...sorta).
Edit: This meal came out to about $8, give or take a few. The whole chicken (Perdue) was about $4, and the rest of the veggies and fixings, come out to about $4 ( you probably have a lot of it in your kitchen already).
Juicy Roasted Chicken Recipe
Ingredient's:
- 1 small whole chicken
- Salt (Sea Salt or Kosher is fine)
- Pepper (freshly ground or lemon pepper is perfect)
- 1 Garlic clove
- 1 Lemon or orange
- Butter / Olive Oil
- Veggies to stuff the chicken with. My choices are usually onions, celery, and carrots.
I'll try to make this as simple as possible for you, but a few things to remember. Poultry can actually be poisonous if not treated well. As in, don't leave your chicken out for long when uncooked, make sure to clean everything your chicken touches with disinfectant soap, and remember to always wash your hands. Oh and, don't forget to take out the gizzards and such out of your chicken's body cavity before cooking.
Step 1: Make sure to quickly rinse the chicken under cold water, cleaning inside the cavity, outside, under the wings, etc. You don't have to scrub, just rinse briefly and place on a tray. Take a paper towel and pat the chicken as dry as you can.
Step 2: For a very crispy and juicy skin, rub some butter all over the exterior of your chicken. This creates a thin sealant so that the chicken can retain all its moisture while baking. After you've rubbed butter all over, sprinkle some salt and pepper generously all over your chicken skin. Sprinkle some into the body cavity as well.
If you don't want to use butter, you can use a little bit of olive oil.
Step 3: Cut your lemon/orange in half, and put the halves into the cavity of the chicken. Make sure to squeeze the fruit so that the juices soak the inside of the cavity. Then stuff the garlic, celery, carrots, and onion (I cut the onion into halves or fourths). Remember to have cleaned your veggies and cut/peeled them to fit.
Step 4: You don't have to do this, but I like to do it to keep all the veggies in. Take a piece of twine or cooking string, and tie the two legs together to close the cavity.
Bake this in the oven at 450 degrees for 50-60 mins, but make sure to check to see if your bird is fully cooked!
Check out Saveur for an excellent instructional on how to properly carve a chicken. (btw, I love this site!)
I also made this yummy banana bread for dessert! Perfect recipe for a very simple and traditional (read, non fancy) banana bread. Leave a comment for the recipe!

Come Fly Away....
Guys, it's only Thursday and everything in me wants to get out of the city!!!
I've been craving some other place for a while now, but with all of our weekends being jam packed with birthdays, weddings, school events, church events, etc., we have been unable to get out. Not to mention it's now closing in on Finals time for me and the Boyfriend just started his new job and oh right and...we have zero money.
Sigh, but a girl can dream, can't she? I think I'm going to have to arrange for a special party, just for two. =D
{from our trip to see one of our favorite people T & M in SF}

Slumping It
Going through a dry phase where I don't have much I want to blog about - thankfully, Sharon is doing very well lately and blogging tons more than usual. Did we switch places without knowing?
In an effort to keep my presence around, I'll be doing a series of Twitter-like posts. 140 characters or less. We'll see how this goes.
First Twitter-style-post installment:
The spring air makes me delusional. I seem to think that I need to buy a lot of things in a very short amount of time.
