Lydia Deetz

It's becoming a pretty common thing for me to have people call me weird or quirky...which I'm okay with in most contexts. I'm not really sure where I get it from, but one of the reasons is because I thoroughly enjoy campy movies - and if you know me at all, you know how I feel about Tim Burton films. Some of my favorite campy classics include:

Labyrinth with David Bowie,

Alice in Wonderland (the made-for-tv version with everyone from Sammy Davis Jr. to Scott Baio to Shelley Winters to Ringo Starr to Merv Griffin to Carol Channing),

Return to Oz (the darker 'sequel' to the Wizard of Oz),

and the point of this post, kind of, BeetleJuice. I even loved the cartoon version that used to play on the WB.

Though I wasn't a particularly gothy or 'dark' kid, Lydia Deetz was always one of my favorite characters growing up (also: Wednesday Addams). Winona Ryder was also lovely as Kim in Edward Scissorhands.

If the cartoon series ever comes out on DVD, someone please take note that it'd be the best present EVER.

And to wrap this post up, here's one of my favorite parts from Alice in Wonderland, since the possession scene in Beetlejuice where the Deetzs and their dinner guests sing 'Daylight Come' isn't available online:

suzanne - i did some research and the most they'd done was release a few on vhs and a select fewer episodes on the movie dvd as extras. there's nothing about it being released on dvds as of yet! =/
