Bags I Like...Right Now

As of late, I haven't had much interest in new bags. Either nothing has really been new and exciting enough, or I'm at my limit. Which sounds impossible, but it might be true!

So today I decided to look again, and lo and behold, found two bags that I kind of like a lot and would totally buy if I wasn't basically a homeless person living off the scraps of her parents.

Marni Fuschia Small Balloon Bag (I know this is an oldie, but it's still a goodie. Plus, I really love that color.)

And then, my newest obsession / holy grail:

Proenza Schouler PS1 Large/Medium Bag (The new IT bag, kind of like when Balenciaga lariats first came out...which I hate being a victim to IT bag fever, but this bag is so delicious that I wouldn't mind being following the trend and getting one just like everyone else. I NEED this.)

I knew my dry spell of bag-lusting wouldn't last long. It's really an addiction that I just can't quite quit.

I love Harry Potter.

Kooba Look A Like

I was sooo very tempted to purchase this bag as a merry xmas gift to myself. And then I realized that I had already gave myself 3 presents for every 1 that I bought. So...I had to forgo this one. However, it did remind me of the Kooba bag I posted below...it's huge, it's got the pleated opening on the sides, and it is all, luscious, leather.

The straps...although quite Chanel, makes me a little uncomfortable. It's too metal and thin for such a large bag...almost like it'd cut into my shoulder 3 blocks later.

Large Tote? Anybody? Anybody?

I love this. I love huge bags that I can fit my entire body in. I would live in my bag if that meant I could have it. And my most recent love...(recent as of the past 5 mins but not as of the past 30 mins)...the Kooba Blake Tote.

Doesn't the leather remind you of a really nice pair of boots? I love the leather..I could fit a baby in it, maybe I could use it for maternity purposes in 10 years...anything to justify it, eh?

On sale at Barneys Coop for $389 in Stone.

Ottoman Obsession!

So I am in love with this Franco Albini Rattan Bamboo Ottoman. LOVE! I think it is absolutely stunning--chic, clean, 60's design that compliments most furniture. Especially for someone like me who appreciates more neutral and earthy tones--the furniture serves as sort of a base or canvas for more colorful patterns and fabrics like throw pillows and such. Or. THIS OTTOMAN! What do you all think? It's $1100 at the store, but a mere $59 on ebay! (with a $30 shipping). I'm sure it will skyrocket by the closing bid but....

I need your opinions by Tuesday. At 18:00 p.m.

Haydee's Recipe for Cake in Cup! Genius!

I try to avoid too sweet desserts, especially during final exams time since I am pretty much spending 99% of my time sitting. I find that my derriere gets abnormally large after 2 weeks of straight studying and sitting. But, I found this wonderfully quick and delicious recipe for cake in a cup!

You just mix the ingredients together, put a dollop in a regular microwaveable coffeemug, place in the microwave for about 2.5 mins and voila! Yummy and easy chocolate cake. Try it! Find the recipe here.

Hot Chicks With Douchebags

After reading about some guy who is suing the author of the book "Hot Chicks with Douchebags" in a libel lawsuit for including a picture of him in the book, I immediately Googled the title of said book and found that there is a magnificent website that is gloriously funny.

Check it, although there are some secret gestures to sign in: mean mug the computer screen, throw up a gang sign, and maybe grease up your hair and wear inappropriate clothes to formal and professional occasions. Then be prepared to laugh.

And if you feel the need to invest in this great piece of literature, Amazon, baby.

Why Are Artists Sometimes So Weird? (and creepy)...

I love fashion as much as the next person. I appreciate the art and passion that is involved in creating each piece. It's when art crosses the line to weird and creepy that gives me the heebie jeebies and make me glad that I'm doing law. At least with law you work with just straight up socially awkward and insecure a-holes who like to make everyone else feel like crap. At least that's something TANGIBLE that I can pummel to the ground. Heebie Jeebies? That shiet stays with you until the darkest hour of the night, when you wake up in a sweat. For ex, an exhibition commissioned by Karl Lagerfeld. Granted this is not exactly TOO creepy, but I thought I'd scare y'all if we went any deeper.

p.s. I'm referring to the S&M chain room and that image of a man hitting that women with a book...naked. Wha?

I Want To Die

I realize that T and I have posted posts that have been infested with thoughts of suicide and pleas of murder...and you know what, it does put quite a damper on our delightfully beautiful and bright page. I feel bad for you who are reading these miserable posts. But T is right. Our lives suck right now. It especially sucked after T and I left our Trust and Estates class and realized that our final is within a couple of days after Thanksgiving break. This was met with many more palpitations of the heart when we came to terms with our complete lack of any knowledge of the subject matter. T and I have read probably a grand total of 5 pages for this class, one of the most difficult classes in law school. I think we gave in a while ago (while mean, second day of classes) and succumbed to the misery.

Sigh. That is all. Thank you.

Miserable Life

So, it's about 12:10am ET, and what are we doing? S and I are using gchat's new video application to keep each other company while we work. And oh, is there so much work to do.

10 minutes past midnight may not sound late to you guys, but you should know that she and I have both been staying up till 2, 3, and sometimes 4 in the morning for the past 4 or 5 days in a row, and so, by now, my brain has lost all sense of time. I honestly thought it was closer to 3am just now.

The only thing making me stay up late tonight to finish more of my paper is the thought of going home in approximately 1.5 days, and seeing the boyfriend (whom I have not seen in 4-ish months) in approximately 2 days. That, and the fact that of a 20 page paper due on Friday, I have a grand total of 7 pages written. I want. To die.

Yeah, there was no point to this. Sorry.

Carry on.

Rehab

And here's another song featuring Justin Timberlake.

I wish I was Rihanna, and not just because she gets to get all cozy on Justin...there's also that Chris Brown kid. Oh, and the fact that she's a platinum artist who has a crazy stylist, too.

Actually, at this point, with papers and exams all coming up, not to mention the holidays and a friend's wedding, I kind of wish I could be anyone else but me. Although, I'd really rather be Rihanna.

I Can't Believe It

That's what the song is actualy called, and it's T-Pain, featuring Justin Timberlake. That Justin is just all over the place this week: Ellen last week, SNL this Saturday, and now this. I'm kind of in love, so it's okay. Oh, and the song is pretty good, too.

Winter Soundtrack

Here is an admission of one of my guilty pleasures. I simply love Enya. I think she is amazing and her music is so romantic and dreamy and make me feel like I'm wandering through a forest...a forest of mystical animals and and ....lots of....mist. I love her, and her winter album is out and I am debating buying it. I should just illegally download it. Just kidding, federal officers. I would never. Omg. It got a 4.5 star rating!

What are your favorite holiday soundtrack?

Domino Mag Book

Hello! Just wanted to leave you all (or...in T's lingo, y'all) with a quick update on some important interior decorating news. Domino Mag (my absolutely most favorite magazine EVER) has come out with a new room by room guide to decorating. It gives you the 1-2-3 and A-B-C lowdown of the essentials for home decor, and guides you towards creating your ideal home.

I love this because I strongly believe in making your home your haven. Buy the book at Barnes and Noble and receive a 35 % discount! If anything, just flip through the pictures--they are awesome!

Two Seconds Away from Killing Myself....

Literally. T and I have been working on writing papers all friggin' weekend long. As in, my butt has made a permanent dent on my chair, and this means through the seat cushion. Did you ever think that was possible? I sure didn't, and it's pretty disgusting.

So T and I downloaded the new feature on gmail..the live video chat! It is seriously the coolest thing since sliced bread (oh gosh I sound like an elderly woman who has lived through 2 wars). We turn it on, and continue studying. Makes you feel like you're not completely alone. Wait a minute, that sounded like a pathetic confession of my darkest hours. Ha ha. I was just kidding...yeah....I never get lonely...

Anyway, secondly...I forget. I know I had something else to tell you all, but my brain has been doing this all day. Mid sentence I forget the punchline. This is a problem because I will think of something that makes me sad or happy, and then forget, but I'll still FEEL the emotion. So I'm like, lookin' all excited and then I'll forget why and just have a stupid grin on my face. And then I'll be sad and cry and not really know why. My brain is deteriorating ppl, you are the witnesses!

Have a good day.

Justin Timberlake on SNL

Watch as he "hosts" SNL in 2 minutes flat...and then as he plays one of Beyonce's backup dancers for "Single Ladies." The dude is funny, y'all.

Seriously...what the eff is going on.

With the economy in the toilet and consumer credit at a ridiculous level....what is the outcome? Could there be any positive outcome in a failing economy? The end of America as a super power? The long lines on the unemployment line?
YES!

Sales sales sales! This Christmas is going to be a grim one...but...the sales are to die for. I have gotten horribly duped on a recent purchase, where I paid about $60 more for a sweater than I should have.

Anyway, no time to post pics but shop bop is having a 30% off sale on all regular priced items, BR is having a 30% off sale, and bluefly is giving away $30 off of purchases of $150 or more (enter NYLON30).

Confused Identity

I think it's kind of funny that my reputation in law school isn't that of smarts, scholarship, or outstanding person in life in general, but rather, fashion guru.

In two days, I have received two "what to wear" questions from two different classmates.

Legs*: I always get excited when I have a fashion emergency and I see you online!

Pearls*: Trying to figure out what to wear...thank god you were on.

And actually, it's a sad but true fact that this is probably the reason my grades suffer as much as they do. So I'm not sure if this is something I should be proud of, or something that should cause my head to hang in shame. I guess there are worse reps to have, like, idiot...or slut...or Heidi what's-her-face from the Hills.

*What comes to mind when I think of these ladies.

Girl Writes to Obama, and The Response

[Via angryasianman.com, via The Philippine Star]

Read this story on angry asian man which continues to increase my love for the precocious children of the world who are clearly smarter and more thoughtful than a good majority of the rest of us. And the fact that Obama wrote back? That man is amazing. Emphasis mine, on parts that brought the slight sting of surprised and impressed tears to my eyes. (Yeah, I cry a lot, and yeah, I happen to have the reputation among my friends for being the emotional person ever, so what? You wanna fight?)

"

Karina Encarnacion sent Obama a two-page handwritten letter in September, and suggested a Coton de Tulear, a small Bichon-type dog named after the city in Madagascar, for its soft cottony coat, noting that “they do not shed, they are very lovable, small and very soft.” She said she has one, named Murphy, who “is very smart and sweet.”

Obama has promised his two daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, that they can have a dog when they move in to the White House.

In a surprise reply received last Oct. 30, Obama told Karina, “Look out for other people, even when it does not directly benefit you; strive to make a difference everywhere you go; and get back up every time you are knocked down.”

Karina, a fourth grader in Missouri, told the then candidate that “I think you will make a very good president… I think that you will make wise decisions for the country.”

She also offered some suggestions for the future president: Would it be possible for you to make a law that requires everyone to recycle… And would it be possible to ban unnecessary wars?”
Obama’s letter, dated Oct. 20, thanked her “for your kind words, your dog suggestion and for your support. I am impressed with your interest in politics, especially at your young age. I appreciate your idea to make a law requiring people to recycle and to ban unnecessary wars.”

Karina told the candidate that her mother, who is not a US citizen, has nevertheless volunteered for his campaign, going door-to-door to “encourage people to vote for you. She said that since she can’t vote, she wanted at least one person to vote in her place.”

Cindy Herbosa-Encarnacion, who holds a PhD in Biology, is the director of the St. Louis Science Center. Karina told Obama that “my mother also said that if you become president, she will become a citizen for sure.”

Karina’s father John is a professor at St. Louis University in Missouri.

“Creating change and making the world better is not always easy, and you will probably find in your life that it is more comfortable to ignore injustices that don’t affect you directly. Don’t take that comfortable road. Challenge yourself to make a difference,” Obama wrote.

“If you don’t already know what it means, I want you to look up the word ‘empathy’ in the dictionary. I believe we don’t have enough empathy in our world today, and it is up to your generation to change that.”

“I hope you will always be an active participant in the world around you, and that you will seize every opportunity to make the world better,” he added.

Seeing young people like you who care about making things better inspires me and gives me great hope about the future of our country.”

Obama’s letter, which included an autographed picture that she requested, was sent to Karina’s home in Missouri.

Grey Skinnies

As final exams comes closer and closer, and the exponentially mounting amount of time I waste doing absolutely nothing but preventing schoolwork from happening to me, keeps on, well, happening, my blogs will become increasingly shorter. I think. Unless I feel like rambling....like now....wait. No. (deep breaths). I will be good.

Grey Skinnies. I digs. You likes?

Alexia Sinclair's Regal Twelve

So it's pretty clear that I spend a lot of time online, whether it's shopping, reading celeb gossip, and browsing blogs. It's especially cool when I come across a blog that has such interesting stuff that I add it to my reader (I now have 53!!! Just blogs!!!) permanently. A few things that always get my attention are art, historical figures, fashion models, and photography.

This has it all!

From photographer and digital artist Alexia Sinclair's series "Regal Twelve," inspired by historical women, combining a mixture of photography, models, illustration, etc. Where the "styles and fashions of each monarch and are reinterpreted into a contemporary visual narrative."

These were some of my favorites...that weren't a teeny bit NSFW.

ObamaBats

Ok, this is really dorky of me, but I downloaded free Obama fonts! What are they? I'm glad you asked! It is a collection of 24 dingbats (font) created by Jeff Domke, a designer. The font features various poses and pics of President Elect Barack Obama and various other designs (such as his logo) and you can make it one of your very own fonts! I used it today, for no particular purpose, just tried it out during Criminal Procedure class...and I love it! I think I'll go make Celebration cards, or a bookmark...or...or...I don't know.
